The Queens Are All Elite!

From the sarcastic comments of Chris Jericho to the return of Darby, to getting a chance to witness the greatness that is the Tacoma native, Swerve Strickland; Two weeks ago the Queens Ring crew headed to AEW to feast their senses on some amazing professional wrestling.

Can you believe that the creators of Queens Ring Podcast have only been going to wrestling shows together since April of 2024? And though we have previously only journeyed down to Tacoma to enjoy some indie wrestling, shout out to SOS Pro Wrestling and all its amazing performers & crew, this show marks our first big promotional event together!

I’ve got to be honest, I’m not an AEW girly. I have never seen it on television, but because I am in the wrestling community, I know of it, its storylines, its wrestlers, and its championships. I’d like to thank the power of social media for that, Tumblr mostly. And though the atmosphere was quaint, AEW truly put on a show.

So where should we start? The colorful entrance layout? The chatty fans that bonded over wrestling around us? The Island Boys and Dante from SOS Pro Wrestling being spotted in the sea of people? How about we start here, picture this, you’re seated in one of the floor seats, feet away from the ring itself. The smell of pizza carries over to you from all directions. And before you can even contemplate a snack of your own, you’re swept away in the moment! The roars and chants of the crowd, the slams on the mat, the stomping of feet. It all captures you and pulls you into the perfect storm.

The matches themselves were full of jaw-dropping moves, and the segments that occurred had unexpected outcomes. But one thing that took the cake for me was getting to observe the sensational Timeless Toni Storm. Her “classic/old Hollywood movie star” persona has both captivated and delighted fans. I mean who doesn’t love a good wrestling character am I right? This might even be Toni’s best work yet. Seeing her work her magic in person made me an even bigger fan than I already was. It was even better seeing her win her match against Harley Cameron at the Angel Of The Winds Arena.

It was truly a blessing to see Washington’s own Bryan Danielson, Swerve Strickland, and Darby that night. How can you not root for hometown heroes? And it is always so impactful to be a part of a crowd that cheers for those who represent us in the world of wrestling. At the end of the show, Bryan Danielson told the audience that he has enjoyed having Washington crowds be there for him for every major event in his career, he has enjoyed being their representation but he knows that when he leaves, Washington state is in good hands with Darby. And in my personal opinion, Swerve Strickland.

All in all, we had a really fun time. And can’t wait to attend another AEW show in the future. Maybe next time we will be one of the people in the crowds with a pizza to crush.

Attending wrestling events together as podcasters has been an incredible journey. From experiencing indie wrestling shows like SOS Pro Wrestling to larger shows like AEW, the thrill has been unmatched. We're huge fans of SOS; they consistently deliver amazing shows! Recently, we had the privilege of attending our first AEW event together, which was a dream come true. While I've always been a WWE loyalist, I can't deny my growing love for AEW. It was electrifying to see so many of my favorite wrestlers in action.

Seeing Jon Moxley was an absolute fangirl moment for me, and I have no shame admitting it! Plus, catching talents from Washington like Bryan Danielson, Swerve Strickland, and Darby Allin was fantastic, given that I'm a huge fan of theirs. Darby's return at that show was the icing on the cake. The crowd's energy for all the stars was electric, and spotting Timeless Toni Storm was a highlight for me. I absolutely adore her, and experiencing her current gimmick live was simply brilliant.

The wrestling business never fails to captivate, and I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity to attend an AEW show. From the aroma of delicious food to the awe-inspiring wrestlers and their mind-blowing moves, every moment was thrilling. Witnessing the promos live and feeling the energy of the crowd was electrifying. There's something special about being in the floor seats; you're right there, practically part of the action, and that feeling is unbeatable. I absolutely adore it.

I could talk endlessly about this event and wrestling overall. But a huge thank you to AEW for putting on such an incredible show and giving us a memorable experience! This certainly won't be the last time you see The Queens at one of their shows, so until next time!
